Unique Boutique Hotel in Merida City, Mexico

Rosas & Xocolate Boutique Hotel

If you’re traveling to Merida, Mexico, consider staying at the Rosas & Xocolate boutique hotel so that you can experience Mexican culture in style.

This restored French-style mansion property only has 17 rooms so serenity is guaranteed. Merida City is known to have a lot of boutique hotels that are all exclusive with a small number of rooms.

Unique Hotel Traits

Spa

Their spa facilities are standard, but their service is truly incredible. I got a body exfoliation that came with a 60-minute massage. Their homemade exfoliation mix is made of cocoa and locally sourced ingredients to leave you FULLY recharged.

Rooftop Bar

The hotel has a rooftop bar with live Jazz music on Friday nights. They also have a tequila bar in the lobby offering more than 250 variations of tequila.

Outdoor Jacuzzi Inside the Rooms

This jacuzzi is an extension of the bathroom without a roof, so you can get full natural light.

Beautiful Outdoor Breakfast Courtyard

The hotel has a beautiful courtyard offering breakfast. Their breakfast menu includes American items but also Mexican dishes like Chilaquiles or Concha for dessert. I had concha like every day during my stay. It's this delicious and warm croissant covered in a sugar crust.

Customer Service Highlights

The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, the hotel does not have a concierge but their front desk employees have maps available and can give you an overview of must-go places. Their staff also helped with reservations everywhere we went so this was great.

I'd probably suggest that they have either a designated person to act as a true concierge or hire a concierge who can advise on more exclusive and unique spots to check out in the city, more than the standard spots they were recommending.

I had to do a lot of research on my own to find those more exclusive spots, so be sure to check out my blog post for things to do in Merida.

Convenience & Location

The hotel is located in the heart of Merida and in the best area called Zona Paseo Montejo close to restaurants and bars.

There's a street called recorrido gastronomico, which means gastronomic route. This street has all of the best restaurants, bars, and bakeries in one place. It's also a nice area to walk and explore.

On Sundays, they have a bazaar with a lot of vendors selling locally-made bags, shoes, clothes, and souvenirs.

Value

This hotel has Marriott as a flag, so it's not as affordable as other local brands, their nightly average rate ranges from $400 to $700 per night.

I was very satisfied with the staff and amenities, the only thing was that the cool outdoor jacuzzi was not as clean, it was outdoor, but it should still be cleaned before a guest checks in. The door of the jacuzzi also had a lot of water stains so someone more particular than I am would have probably complained or asked to switch rooms.
